Tantalizing Halal Western food at Mr Food Butcher & Grill, Putra Heights.

If you happen to be in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya and crave Western food, drop by at Mr Food Butcher & Grill. According to its co-owner, Mohd Rodzuan Bin Jali, Mr Food Butcher & Grill started operating since 2009 as a meat shop, supplying frozen beef, lamb, mutton, chicken and processed food to its walk-in customers and restaurants such as JM Briani House for its Fried Rosemary Lamb and Sari Ratu Restaurant for its Lamb Rendang and Dendeng. Eventually at the end 2010, Rodzuan and his brother, a Chef in Australia, decided to open a Western restaurant at its existing premises. Initially, they only advertised in MIngguan Malaysia, a local newspaper, and distributed flyers to the nearby residents of Putra Heights, Section 28, 27 and 26 Shah Alam. Since then, there is no turning back for these two brothers. They plan to open another Western Restaurant in Setia City Mall, Setia Alam at the end of 2015.

SPECIALTY

1. The lamb and all parts of beef are imported from Australia. The Frozen Australia Tenderloin Topside (Batang Pinang) is RM 25.00 per kilogram.
2. They make their own beef, chicken and lamb patties. Their patties are served with salad, fries and their signature creamy or rosemary black pepper sauce.
3. For the black pepper sauce, the Chef uses olive oil, crushed black pepper corns and a pinch of salt. For the perfect flavor, the sauces are mixed with thyme, rosemary and crushed basil leaves of the Australian McCormick brand.

OTHER SERVICES

1. Mr Food Butcher & Grill offer Western food catering services for open houses and small parties.
2. As for their BBQ Home services, a 17 kilogram Australia or New Zealand lamb cost RM 1,000.00 complete with their signature Rosemary Black pepper sauce, salad, potato wedges and fries. The price also includes two staffs and grilled apparatus.

Sekaya Telur Terengganu & Lompat Tikam

It’s time for Sekaya Telur Terengganu, a steamed egg pudding. Here’s the recipe …

Sekaya Telur at Restorah Kuah Singgang, Kuala Terengganu
Ingredients
  • 1 big chunk of Gula Melaka or palm sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 12 grade B eggs
  • 200ml coconut milk
  • 1 or 2 tablespoon Tepung Jagung or Corn Flour (optional. Just to thicken the mixture)

Methods

  • Boiled the water, placed the palm sugar in the boiling water until it is completely dissolved
  • Sieved the liquefied palm sugar and set it aside to cool down.
  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs.
  • Pour the coconut milk, corn flour (optional) and palm sugar in the said bowl and mix thoroughly.
  • Sieved the egg custard and pour in a 7-inch square baking pan.
  • Steamed the custard for 40 minutes until 1 hour or until a fork inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Let the baking pan cool on the wire racks before refrigerated
  • Best served chilled

Lompat Tikam at Warung Otak-Otak Che Wan, Kemaman
Another weird-name Terengganu dessert is Lompat Tikam which literally means to jump and stab. Actually the name implies the rise and ready to start the day after eating this dessert. This sweet and cold dessert comprises two main layers, the green part underneath and the white part on top. A generous helping of coconut palm syrup compliments the sweetness of Lompat Tikam.
